A resourse for finding tools for community building or communities to join.

- Type: agency

## The project

HiMingle (himingle.com) is a resource platform for community builders and community seekers, built by GigLabo. Industry: Community. Worldwide. Budget: $20,000. Duration: 3 months with 2 team members.

It was originally conceived as a resource platform for community builders and was to include:

- **A catalog of tools and platforms** useful for community building.
- **A blog** for aspiring community managers — how to build a community, where to start, what to look out for.

After those were implemented, **a directory of online communities** was added for people looking for communities of interest.

## Challenges

- **Automating the approval process** — a quick, cheap way to approve or reject applications for adding tools or communities to the directories.
- **SEO optimization** — making the site search-engine friendly for visibility and organic traffic.
- **Scalability** — handling a growing number of entries in both directories without losing performance.
- **Data security** — protecting user data once accounts and personal information were introduced.
- **Performance** — fast load times, especially on directory pages carrying large amounts of data.

## Scope of work

- Create a user-friendly interface for two directories with complex filtering and categorization.
- Develop an admin system for managing alternatives, categories, features and OG images.
- Integrate APIs: headless Strapi CMS for the blog, Supabase as the database, Google Docs for processing incoming requests.
- Implement user authorization, personal accounts, directories, blog and email workflows as one coherent platform.
- Set up email workflows driven by user interactions, planned to avoid spam and ensure delivery.

## Results

- One person can easily manage the whole portal.
- No additional fees or subscriptions are required to maintain the infrastructure.
- HiMingle became the 5th product of the day on ProductHunt.
