Install Heretic Lazy Shot, activate the free trial, bind hotkeys and capture your first screenshot in under 3 minutes.

## How to Start

Get from zero to your first beautified screenshot in under three minutes. No account required.

## 1. Download

Pick the right build for your machine on the [download section](https://giglabo.com/heretic/applications/heretic-lazy-shot#download):

- **macOS** — Apple Silicon (arm64) or Intel (x86_64)
- **Windows** — 64-bit installer

The download includes a free trial. You can use every capture, annotation and compositor feature before deciding on a lifetime license.

## 2. Install

### macOS

1. Open the downloaded `.dmg`
2. Drag **Heretic Lazy Shot** into **Applications**
3. On first launch, grant **Screen Recording** permission in *System Settings → Privacy & Security*
4. Optional: grant **Accessibility** permission for advanced window picker

### Windows

1. Run the `.msi` installer
2. Accept the prompts
3. On first launch, Windows will ask to allow screen capture — accept

## 3. Bind your hotkeys

Open **Settings → Hotkeys**. The defaults that matter most:

| Action | macOS | Windows |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Capture region | `⌘ ⇧ 4` | `Ctrl Shift 4` |
| Capture window | `⌘ ⇧ 5` | `Ctrl Shift 5` |
| Capture display | `⌘ ⇧ 3` | `Ctrl Shift 3` |
| Open editor | `⌘ ⇧ E` | `Ctrl Shift E` |

Every action can be rebound. Per-monitor hotkeys are supported.

## 4. Capture → Annotate → Beautify

1. Press your region hotkey. Drag a rectangle. Hold `Shift` for a square, `Alt` for center-out, `Space` to freeze.
2. The editor opens. Press a single key per tool: `A` arrow, `T` text, `B` blur, `C` counter, `M` marker, `E` eraser.
3. Hit `⌘ B` (macOS) or `Ctrl B` (Windows) to open the **compositor**. Pick a canvas preset, adjust shadow, export.

## 5. Let agents drive it

Heretic Lazy Shot ships with a built-in MCP server. Hand control to Claude, Cursor or Copilot — see [MCP tools](https://giglabo.com/heretic/applications/heretic-lazy-shot/docs/mcp-tools) and [integrations](https://giglabo.com/heretic/applications/heretic-lazy-shot/docs/integrations).
