Installation

Prerequisites

Before installing, ensure you have:

• Node.js 22+ - Required for the frontend and orchestrator
• Docker - Recommended for containerized deployment
• Git - For cloning the repository

Docker Installation (Recommended)

The fastest way to get started is using Docker Compose.

Clone the Repository

git clone https://github.com/giglabo/heretic.git
cd heretic

Configure Environment

Copy the example environment file and configure your settings:

cp .env.example .env

Edit .env and add your API keys:

ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=your-api-key-here
TRELLO_API_KEY=your-trello-key
TRELLO_TOKEN=your-trello-token

Start Services

docker compose up -d

This will start:

• Orchestrator service on port 8000
• Frontend application on port 3000
• PostgreSQL database on port 5432

Local Development Setup

For development, you can run services locally.

Install Dependencies

# Frontend
cd heretic-vibe-coder
pnpm install

# Backend
cd ../orchestrator-service
pip install -e .

Run Development Servers

# Terminal 1: Frontend
cd heretic-vibe-coder
pnpm --filter app dev

# Terminal 2: Backend
cd orchestrator-service
uvicorn app.main:app --reload

Kubernetes Deployment

For production deployments, use the provided Kubernetes manifests.

kubectl apply -f orchestrator-service/k8s/

Verify Installation

After installation, verify everything is working:

# Check orchestrator health
curl http://localhost:8000/health

# Open frontend
open http://localhost:3000
